When a game is as hyped as Fortnite is, it’s usually for good reason. The game took the world by storm when it released in July 2017 and saw the fastest growth in gaming history until Apex Legends stole the show.
Despite the fact that its growth is beginning to slow, it’s still a highly addictive game. Peak behind us or not, there’s still plenty of good reasons to play it. Battle Royale games are a whole lot of fun.
Every single bout of this epic slaughter fest starts the same way. You drop down from a plane, along with a bunch of other players onto an island riddled with weapons, loot and traps. But where you land is in your hands.
Choosing the right landing spot is more important than you think. It can essentially make or break your chances of winning, as you’ll need to find an area with enough resources that isn’t over saturated by other blood thirsty players.
I’ve put together 5 winning locations for you to land on across the map for the best shot at survival in Fortnite.
Landing for Dummies
In most cases, you’ll want to hit the ground running as soon as possible to collect weapons and loot before anyone else. You’ll start by freefalling, but your parachute will automatically deploy when you reach a certain altitude.
Pick your landing spot carefully on the map and take this into consideration. Rather than letting your parachute slowly float you down, calculate your location, leaving a little room so that you can thrust yourself forward with your parachute and reach the ground quicker.
When playing alone, I suggest you land in a remote area. If in a team however, built up locations usually have more weapons. You’ll also be able to support each other if you run into any bogeys early on.
Where to land in Fortnite: 5 best locations
Motel near Anarchy Acres
This is a prime location to land as part of a team. There’s enough weapons here to arm an entire squad. Try and aim to land on top of the buildings and smash your way through the roof with your pickaxe for best results.
The Moisty Mire
If you’re looking for a secluded location, you’ve got to get soggy. The Moisty Mire is a swampy, waterlogged wasteland that slows you down when wading through it. For this reason, it’s generally a void of other players. It’s a great place to land if you’re okaying solo. Look for crates and trees to chop down when you land for fort materials.
Don’t turn your nose up at this one. You’ll find a lot of great weapons and equipment here if you can land before anyone else. Don’t forget to check the basements of each house and building for extra goodies.
Tunnel near Tomato Town
Near the top right corner of the map is a quaint little residence known as Tomato Town. Dropping here is a popular spot, so you’ll run into a lot of competition. However, if you land slightly south where the roads converge, you should be able to spot a secret tunnel. Inside you’ll find some sneaky crates, and if you follow the tunnel you should resurface in Tomato Town with enough weapons to obliterate your enemies.
Pool near Tilted Towers
Head for Tilted Towers but keep your eyes peeled for a pool located further west of it. You’ll find a shed ton of gear here. Once equipped, sprint over to Tilted Towers and let that trigger finger get to work.
I’ve given you the 5 best landing spots in Fortnite regardless of whether you want to start out slow and safe or nosedive into all out war. The rest is up to you!
